Nottinghamshire Training Group is a government funded independent training provider based in the heart of Worksop. They provide high quality training across the Nottinghamshire area, South Yorkshire and Derbyshire. They have been running for over 35 years, first founded in 1987 by Sylvia Lilley as Bassetlaw Training Agency, supporting many 16–19-year-olds in achieving the career goals. Sylvia’s grandson, Alex, took over NTG in 2017, renaming the business and taking them from strength to strength.
Choose from an Apprenticeship, Study Programme or Traineeship. NTG’s study programmes are extremely varied, covering Business Administration, Teaching, Childcare and more. They also deliver apprenticeships in the same field areas. Other popular courses include Hairdressing, Barbering and Beauty Therapy, with fabulous on-site facilities on hand to learners. These courses are run through their specialised arm ‘GetaHead Training’, offering practical training within their facilities. They have sites in Retford, Derby and Sheffield. This small independent training programme has proved to be a huge success.

The main USP of NTG is that their class sizes are extremely small, not surpassing 15 students. This allows for 1-1 learning, and all trainers go that extra mile for employer links, with great partnerships and opportunities for their students, with the ethos that learners are people and not just a number.
NTG are proud to have been shortlisted as a Finalist for Training Provider of the Year at the Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire Apprenticeship Awards 2025. They also recently achieved a ‘Good’ Ofsted rating, which is fabulous news. They are involved with regular fundraising, working with From the Heart and other local charities. The facility acts as a true safety net to its students, acting as an alternative to college and sixth form for those that want to focus on their career, focusing on the personal development of each individual.
