Sunday 27th August saw the return of Party in The Square in Retford, and what a day it was!
Despite a rainy start, the crowds gathered and brought the sunshine with them. It was great to see the local community come together to celebrate this fantastic free family event. Our hosts Joe & Alex kicked off the party on stage at 2pm, introducing opening act The Bowkers to perform their own interpretation of some modern hits, including ‘Watermelon Sugar’ by Harry Styles. Dua Lipa tribute Dua Live followed The Bowker’s set with her biggest hits, getting the crowd ‘physical’ by dancing and singing along. Spice Forever didn’t disappoint, performing their iconic hits which had the crowds up on their feet, singing along to every word. Headline act Rule The World were the crowd favourites, bringing a rush of people to the front of the stage. DJ Tim Asher closed the show with some banging dance anthems, keeping the crowd dancing until the end of the show.
Sally Gillborn, CEO of North Notts BID, said: “It was great to see such a fantastic reception to our annual Party in the Square event. As well as signing off the summer in style – with families in full singing voice – it also provided an opportunity to support our local food businesses, that are so vital to our communities.”
We would like to say a huge thank you to all those who participated in the event, including stall holders, local businesses, the events team and our fabulous acts.
Don’t forget to add Party in the Square 2024 to your calendar, taking place on 25 August in Retford.
