North Notts BID is delighted to announce the launch of the North Notts Mural Trail – a brand-new, district-wide art trail coming to Bassetlaw in May 2026!
Running from 25th May to 6th September 2026, this exciting and interactive trail will feature 30 vibrant, eco-themed murals located across the Bassetlaw district’s four main towns – Worksop, Retford, Tuxford, and Harworth & Bircotes.
Each mural has been designed and created by local schools and community groups, including Middletons Yard, Elizabethan Academy, Tuxford Primary School, and St Anne’s CofE School to note a few, making this a true celebration of local creativity and community spirit. Uniquely, every mural is made entirely from recycled plastic bottle lids, promoting sustainability while showcasing the artistic talents of young people across Bassetlaw.
The trail encourages visitors of all ages to explore the area, with mural locations including popular spots such as The Canch in Worksop, Kings Park in Retford, and Idle Valley Nature Reserve, alongside many other hidden gems across the district.
How to take part:
Pick up a free pocket guide leaflet, which will be widely available from cafés, libraries, schools, and community venues across Bassetlaw from the middle of May. This leaflet will show you where all the murals are located, their titles and who made them.
As you explore, take part in the North Notts Mural Trail Challenge:
– Each mural contains a hidden item on the reverse
– Identify the item and match it to the corresponding number in your leaflet (or digital version)
– Find all 30 murals to complete the challenge!
Once completed, submit your answers by emailing a photo of your challenge page to info@northnottsbid.co.uk along with your name and a contact number. Successful participants will receive a certificate and be entered into a fabulous prize draw to win a hamper.
This exciting project celebrates creativity, recycling, and community pride, while encouraging young people and families to engage with environmental issues in a fun, hands-on way. Keep an eye on our website and social media channels for updates, trail maps, and more details as we approach launch!
