A successful end to 2021 with promising signs moving into 2022…
This year was the most successful series of Christmas events yet. After last years cancellations no stone was left unturned.
We saw hundreds of traders take to the town centres of Retford & Worksop, serving over 14,700 members of the public.
Anyone in attendance could see the joy that it brought to both towns.
Worksop Light Switch On
An impressive turnout for Worksop this year with a multitude of visitors to the town centre between 12 noon-6pm.
Footfall figures show that Worksop had 7,778 visitors, of which 3,778 were new visitors.
The event finished with a brilliant performance from Slade tribute band ‘Slyde’.
Retford Light Switch On
The sun was shining, but much colder than the previous day in Worksop. However, this did not stop the faithful crowds.
Footfall figures show that Retford had 6,699 visitors, of which 3,720 were new visitors.
The market was in full flow with over 100 traders. This was complemented by a wholesome array of performers throughout the day.
We are excited to announce a new chair and vice-chair for 2022, as we head towards ballot to secure our second five-year term. George Buchanan of Hodsock Priory, Blyth, will be stepping into the role of chair while Helen Cope of Trans-Sport.TV in Treswell becomes vice-chair.
George replaces Royce Marshall, Retford (Gamston) Airport, who is stepping down as chair – a position he has held since 2019 – following its sale to automotive and aviation research, testing and training organisation Thatcham.
We thank Royce for all of his support and wish him well for the future.
From November we delivered stunning visual light displays in both Worksop and Retford town squares.’
The projections commenced with a show for Remembrance, continued with Christmas stories and a message from Santa, and concluded with New Year celebrations.
These light projection shows provided a boost to the town centre, encouraging people to return to the high streets safely, to eat, drink and shop.
