The King William Inn at Scaftworth is a quaint, rural pub on the outskirts of Bassetlaw near Bawtry. The pub is set within an idyllic setting next to the River Idle, with gorgeous riverside gardens creating a fabulous outdoor seating area. The King William Inn has recently celebrated its 10th birthday and is owned by Joe & Becky, who previously worked front of house. The pub is part of Harper Inns, with other local sister pubs. The business has rapidly expanded due to great success, making The King William the thriving pub it is now.
Enjoy a variety of dishes from the lunchtime menu, main menu, and the weekend brunch menu. The lunchtime menu consists of a range of small plates and sandwiches, including a Mediterranean Halloumi Salad, Steak & Onion Ciabatta and Eggs Florentine. The main menu boasts of delicious starters, mains, pub classics, grills, sides and puddings. Popular items from the main menu include the King William Steak & Ale pie, the Crispy Chicken Burger and The King William Board, a sharing platter consisting of chicken tenders, goats cheese bon bons, sourdough bread and more! Finish your meal off with something sweet, choosing from pub favourites Sticky Toffee Pudding, Double Chocolate Brownie and Chocolate Cheesecake. You can also treat yourself to delicious local ice cream from Cow Shack, which is available to buy and eat within the pub and at their shack located just next door to the King William Inn.
There is a large marquee located in the beautiful gardens, which is available to hire for private functions. The King William Inn can host weddings, birthday parties, christenings, baby showers and more. They also host corporate private events, allowing up to 350 guests. Throughout the summer months, the popular pizza shed is open 12pm – 5pm on the weekends, with the outdoor bar open and live music playing, creating a real ambience. Enjoy a pizza with a range of toppings available, delicious sides such as garlic doughballs & garlic bread and crust dips from the pizza shed in the outdoor seating area. Being set just next to the river, people often paddle board up to the pub.
They host popular annual events throughout the year, ranging from bike nights, live music events and comedy nights. Scaftonbury at the King William Inn is an extremely popular event, which is Scaftworth’s very own music festival. This consists of live music from talented local performers, food vendors, an outdoor bar and a VIP pavilion. Regatta is also a popular event, which is an annual home-built raft race. This event is taking place on Monday 26th August from 12pm. For free entry, enjoy live music, an outside bar, face painting and more.
