Melody Maison is a leading retailer for beautiful home décor, painted furniture and country style home furnishings, based in Harworth. The family run business was founded in 2006 by Anna Elkington, who is still heavily involved in the operations of the business.
The team has expanded with the rapid growth of the business, with a strong female presence and employees all from the local area. Anna’s former love of antiques and selling pieces on Ebay allowed her to identify her dream business path, to sell unique pieces of décor and furnishings. Anna quickly outgrew her spare bedroom and initial warehouse, with now three warehouses in full-time use. Anna’s son, Ross, now also works for the business, keeping the business within the family. Melody Maison offers French style, ornate and vintage style home furnishings. These are designed at the main office, with new stock being added to their website and warehouse weekly.
Their passion for customer service is evident, ensuring they go above and beyond each buyer’s expectations. They really listen to customers’ needs and recommendations, designing new products to suit. They also sell a range of homeware accessories, with their top sellers being thin framed mirrors and dressers, with a current popular trend being Minimalism. Their gorgeous, coloured glass Art Deco mirrors are also a current big seller, as well as decorative hooks and knobs. These quirky, animal shaped knobs are an easy way for someone to refresh a piece of furniture, adding a whole new look and some fun to it. The animal shaped accessories are a successful seller specifically for nurseries and children’s bedrooms.
During the pandemic, Melody Maison saw a sudden increase in sales in their furnishings and accessories, as many members of the public wished to decorate and uplift their homes while subjected to staying indoors. The business managed to continue with their short delivery times, with staff members working from home to ensure customers were kept happy.
