A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE

If you are looking for affordable property, a relaxed lifestyle, great outdoor leisure experiences, interesting and varied retailers, alongside myths, legends and heritage then North Nottinghamshire has something for you.

There’s a wide choice of housing from upmarket developments to country cottages, apartments to established family estates at prices that offer great value. With friendly and welcoming communities it’s a safe place to live, bring up your family and a place to truly call home.

Stroll amongst trees and wide open grasslands at one of the many award winning country parks, cycle, run or walk alongside the Chesterfield canal or simply enjoy a movie at Worksop’s modern multiplex. There are three leisure centres, numerous golf courses, riding schools, private health clubs and spas that all contribute to the happy, healthy lifestyle that is synonymous with North Nottinghamshire. The Peak District is a short drive away as is Sheffield and its Meadowhall shopping centre while the heritage cities of Lincoln and Nottingham are within easy reach.

With many independent traders, national brands, farmers’ markets, antiques markets and out of town shopping there’s a retail leisure experience to suit all tastes. There is a developing food focus in our area with local producers such as cheese production with the traditional raw milk English blue cheese Stichelton.

North Nottinghamshire has an enviable high standard of education with 49 diverse and easily accessible primary schools and 6 secondary schools all with Academy status. Independent schools include Worksop College and Ranby House Preparatory School. The RNN (Rotherham and North Notts) Group was formed in February 2016 through the merger of Rotherham College and North Notts College, the latter being the major post-16 educational provider in Bassetlaw accommodating 1000 full time and over 1275 part time students.

The National Fluid Power Centre is a world leader for training in hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical / electronics and associated control. The training courses combine first-class education with the most advanced practical training facilities in a specially designed laboratory.

The area benefits from having access to six popular and high achieving Universities – Sheffield Hallam University, University of Sheffield, University of Lincoln, University of Nottingham, Nottingham Trent University and University of Derby.

About Our District

Visit

North Nottinghamshire is renowned for Sherwood Forest, the historic Major Oak and the legend of Robin and his Merry Men. But we have far more stories than simply Robin. Our area was home to the men who initiated the emigration of the Pilgrim Fathers who played such an important role in the development of the USA. The area surrounding Worksop is known as the ‘Dukeries’ after the unusually close proximity of four historic ducal seats.
