IT’S BEGINNING to look a lot like Christmas across North Nottinghamshire, with a host of events taking place throughout the district thanks to North Notts BID.
As well as the traditional Christmas lights switch-on in Worksop, Retford, Harworth and Tuxford, there will also be stocking filler markets taking place in Worksop and Retford.
The festivities begin with the lights switch-on in Worksop next Saturday (November 30), complete with a full festive market and fairground throughout the day, and live music from 2pm including Take That tribute act “Take This”.
Retford’s big switch-on takes place next Sunday (December 1), featuring a host of performances from local schools and entertainers during the day before the lights are switched on at 5pm.
Both towns will also hold special market events throughout the month of December, offering the chance to snap up fantastic stocking fillers for those hard-to-buy-for friends and relatives.
The events are being delivered by North Notts BID working in partnership with the Retford and Worksop business forums and supported by Bassetlaw District Council.
Sally Gillborn, chief executive of North Notts BID said: “Christmas is a special time of year and we want to ensure that the people and businesses of North Notts have a season to remember in 2019.
“These events will showcase some of the wonderful businesses we have across the district, as well as giving residents of North Notts the chance to get together and share some Christmas spirit.”
The Christmas lights switch-on events are:
- Worksop – Saturday, November 30, 11am to 7pm
- Retford – Sunday, December 1, 10am to 6pm
- Harworth – Friday, December 6, 3pm to 6pm
- Tuxford – Sunday, December 8, 3pm to 6.30pm
The stocking filler markets are:
- Retford – Tuesday, December 10 and Tuesday, December 17, 1pm to 6.30pm
- Worksop – Thursday, December 12 and Thursday, December 19, 1pm to 6:30pm
