North Notts BID has funded a new, digital radio system. Retford-based Radiotronics was chosen to supply and install the new system which involved replacing the existing, out-dated system, with a digital, portable system that connects over 100 businesses with the CCTV control room of Bassetlaw District Council and Nottinghamshire Police.

Hand-held radios are available free of charge to BID members that attend PubWatch or ShopWatch meetings in Worksop and Retford.

The radio system enables businesses to share information relating to crime incidents and strengthen relationships with Nottinghamshire Police, Bassetlaw District Council and Neighbourhood Watch in order to fight the negative implications of anti-social behaviour.

In addition to greater communication between businesses, the council and police, the radio system delivers greater protection to employees, particularly those working alone or in the evening. Other benefits include reducing the likelihood of stock losses as well as providing clear links to licensing objectives for licensed traders.
